Mailhot's Rock
Getting in Deschaillons-sur-St-Laurent by the road Marie-Victorin (132)… "By the road (132) was a big rock in the circulation ".
This rock had to be moved. After a six horses team failed, a strong man "ran the rock on the road side. This historic rock can still be seen at the same place."
It was in 1810.(2)
Truth or legend? The Maillot's Rock is 4.9 feet width by 6,2 feet hight, and weight 594 pounds. The one who moved it would be taller and heavier. His name was Modeste Maillot; he was 7'4" tall; he was
nicknamed "Canadian Giant"; he lived at St-Pierre-les-Becquets two centuries ago.
(1) We write also Mailhot (2) Félix-Lanzo Lemay, from monography Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Deschaillons, 1934
